I. Overview of VBO Module
An add-on for the Views module that adds a “style” display to your view that creates a table view of your content with a column of checkboxes to the left for 1) selecting multiple nodes 2) performing an action on them. It’s useful for administering sites with a lot of content (news articles, images, podcasts, products, etc.)

II. Installation and configuration

Required modules


The module does not require any other configuration for initial use and can be used “out of the box”.

III. Creating a view with VBO

  • Go to /admin/build/views and “Add” a new view (fields, filters, etc.)
  • Under “Basic settings”, click the “Unformatted” link to the right of “Style:”.
  • Select “Bulk Operations” and click “Update”.
  • Add actions and configure your VBO options then click “Update”.
  • Save your new view.

IV. Administering your site with VBO / Sample use cases

  • Node management (publish / unpublish / delete)
  • Changing taxonomy of multiple nodes at once
  • User management (delete / block / change roles) – need to create a “user-based view”
  • Galleries and managing images
